1. Overview

Parkoza ("we", "us", "our") operates an online peer-to-peer parking marketplace. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use our website and services.

By creating an account or using the Parkoza platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

This policy is published in compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 ("SPDI Rules") of India.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

(a) Account Information: your full name, email address, mobile number, and password (stored in encrypted form).

(b) Profile Information: profile photo or avatar you choose to upload.

(c) Listing Information (Owners): address, photographs, vehicle type compatibility, pricing, and availability of your parking space.

(d) Booking Information: vehicle registration number, selected dates and times, and booking history.

(e) Payment Information: transaction identifiers and booking amounts. We do not store card numbers or bank account details — these are handled exclusively by our payment processor (Razorpay).

(f) Communications: messages sent through the in-platform chat feature.

(g) Usage Data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, and actions taken on the platform, collected automatically via cookies and similar technologies.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

(a) Create and manage your account and authenticate your identity;

(b) Enable bookings between Owners and Renters;

(c) Process payments and send booking confirmations;

(d) Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries;

(e) Send transactional notifications (booking confirmations, reminders, receipts);

(f) Send promotional and marketing communications, which you may opt out of at any time;

(g) Improve our platform through analytics and usage insights;

(h) Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service;

(i) Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:

(a) Between Users: to facilitate a booking, an Owner can see a Renter's name and vehicle details, and a Renter can see the Owner's listing details and first name.

(b) Payment Processors: payment data is shared with Razorpay to process transactions. Razorpay's privacy policy governs their use of your data.

(c) Cloud Service Providers: we use third-party infrastructure providers (including database, storage, and hosting services) who process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.

(d) Legal Compliance: we may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of any person.

(e) Business Transfer: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention or resolving ongoing disputes.

Booking and payment records may be retained for up to 7 years to comply with financial and tax regulations under Indian law.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and analyse how you use our platform.

Essential cookies are necessary for the platform to function and cannot be disabled. Analytics cookies help us understand usage patterns and improve the service.

You may control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect your ability to use certain features of the platform.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), hashed password storage, and access controls.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

(d) Opt-out of marketing: you may unsubscribe from promotional communications at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email or contacting us.

(e) Data Portability: you may request a copy of your data in a commonly used format.

9. Children's Privacy

The Parkoza platform is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 18 without parental consent, we will promptly delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice.

Your continued use of the platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.

12. Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the SPDI Rules, we have appointed a Grievance Officer to address privacy-related concerns.
